Kino immer anders

Jeffrey Beaumont, a young man, visiting his sick father somewhere, or better, anywhere in an american suburb, finds a severed ear and delivers it to a local detective. The detective’s daughter, however, provides him with more details surrounding the case, and together they decide to investigate. They soon find themselves immersed in an underworld of violence, drugs and obscenity.

Blue Velvet, one of Lynch’s masterpieces is at its core a dichotomy between the ideal, innocent looking and hyper-realistic American suburb and the obscure, terrifying nightmare that we see through the eyes of Jeffrey Beaufort as he observes the animalistic and mad instincts of human nature.

As Lynchian as it gets, Blue Velvet is an exploration of the uncanny, the oddness that lies deep in our every day reality.
